Promote Your BBE Entry With Local Media!

Earlier this month, we wrote a blog post regarding the different ways you could promote your entry – and in turn, hopefully increase your votes. We have had an overwhelming number of bloggers letting us know how they have been promoting their entry – but we wanted to share one we spotted recently with you. Glen Shorey from Adventures of Wheelchair Boy blog, wrote to his local newspaper in a bid to increase his votes and travel for the first time. We think it is great that he has involved his local media platform, don’t you?

How have you been promoting your entry? Have you set up a giveaway? Or have you made posters to give to friends and family? Or have you just used social networking sites? Let us know!

The Votes Are Back!

You may have noticed that several votes have been mysteriously disappearing and then re-appearing again recently, so we have been busy figuring out a solution to the problem. We are pleased to let you know that this issue has been resolved and that all of your votes are back (and won’t be going anywhere!).

How To Increase Your Big Blog Exchange Votes!

If you have signed up your blog, and are waiting patiently (or impatiently) for the votes to roll in then we’ve devised a handy list of tips to promoting your Big Blog Exchange entry, so that hopefully, YOU can be one of the 16 bloggers! Of course, the competition isn’t ALL about the number of votes you have, or how popular your entry is, as the two wildcard choices will be chosen purely for their motivation and their content, however, we imagine it would be great to make it to the top 100, or the top 50 in your region?

1 – Write a blog post about why you want to take part.

If you have a really great motivation for taking part (and we are sure you all do), then why not express this to your readers? Maybe you want to partake in the exchange because you’ve never traveled before, or maybe because you want to experience a culture in another country? Whatever your reason is, we are sure your readers want to know about it – and if they do, we are sure they will vote for you too! Writing a blog post on your blog, although not a compulsory task in order to enter, is a great way to spread the word about your entry!

2 – Promote your entry to your social networking sites.

Once you have signed up, every blogger has an individual, unique ‘code’ for their profile on the Big Blog Exchange website. When a friend or reader clicks on this link, they will be automatically transferred to your profile – and will be able to vote. So, why not promote this link on your social networking sites?

3 – Contact your local media.

The Big Blog Exchange is a GLOBAL project, and is inviting every blogger around the world to get involved, so to represent your country, or your town would be great recognition not only for your blog, but also for your local community. We are sure your local media, whether this be television, newspaper, magazine or radio, would love to hear about your entry and your motivation, so perhaps you could get in touch?

4 – Email your family and friends.

With such an exciting and inspirational prize on offer, we are sure your family and friends will be more than happy to hear about you taking part, so why not get in touch? An email, sent round to all of your closest family and friends is a really easy way to spread the word about your entry.

Further resources and promotional tips can be found in the ‘resources’ tab on the bigblogexchange.org website! Let us know if you have any questions at all. Our email address is tbbe@hihostels.com.

* Please note: these are not compulsory tasks, your entry will still count regardless. We just wanted to provide some helpful tips for bloggers who may want to increase their votes.

The Voting Process

We are so pleased to see that so many bloggers have signed up to the Big Blog Exchange so far, and that so many readers are getting involved in voting for their favourites! There has been a little confusion with regards to the voting process, so we just wanted to take the opportunity to clarify this:

– Once you have voted, you will have to confirm your vote by email (this is the email address you entered into the vote box). This is to make sure that you are a real voter, and not a spammer or a computer.

– The confirmation email will be sent to you automatically, and should reach you immediately. If you use Hotmail, Gmail or Outlook, then it is likely the confirmation email will go into your junk/spam box, so please check these.

– Once you have found the email, opened it and clicked on the confirmation link, your vote will go through – and your favourite blogger will be one step closer in becoming one of the final 16!

If you are experiencing any problems voting, or haven’t yet received your confirmation email, let us know – and we will try and resolve this as soon as we can.

Happy voting!
